A.P. Industries was founded by Arthur Houde in 1950. At the age of 54, he started the furniture factory in the small town of Laurier-Station. The following year, he hired his son Paul to help him to manage the business. The company worked constantly to develop new markets for their furniture. The company was incorporated under the name AP Furniture Industries, the initials of the two owner’s first names, Arthur and Paul. Arthur Houde retired in 1972 but remained actively involved in the business right up to his death in 1994.
Daniel Benjamin was named general manager in 1984. As the first manager from outside the family, he gave AP Industries a new orientation. The imitation wood line of products was dropped in favor of high end collections designed for baby to adult.
Over the years, AP Industries has earned its place as a major player in the industry. Our commitment to quality furniture has shown through our more than 50 years of constant product innovation and design excellence.
